Last Friday our good friend Josh came over to play with us for the evening. Alden gets so excited to play with him, it really made our evening to have a friend. We spent most of the time outside enjoying the perfect weather. We played ball and ran up and down the hill. I'm sure everyone slept great that night after all the fun times.

Mother's Day
Mother's day this year was great. It was very low key and we enjoyed spending time together as a family. I love being a mother, it's crazy but wonderful. And it's really fun since I get to hang out with my best friends all day. They keep me laughing. I got some beautiful flowers that Alden picked out and then a big bag of chocolate covered raisins :) Patrick spoke in church and did a wonderful job. He spoke on how father's should love their wives because they are the mother of their children. It was perfect and I love to learn from him. I'm also very grateful for my own mother and mother-in-law for their examples and love. Thanks for everything! Here are the kids dressed and ready for church.
Alden's scooter
One of Alden's Christmas presents is finally getting some good use. He got a scooter from my parents and he absolutely loves it. Anytime I saw we are going outside for a walk or to play he wants to ride his scooter. At first it made me nervous, but he is really good now. He has a lot of control and goes pretty fast. We've only had a few crashes and he just slows down and gently tips over so it's not too bad. I just wish he had a little more room outside to play instead of the sidewalks in front of the apartment, but it works and it makes Alden really happy. Leigh and I follow along behind him in the stroller.
Proof
So I had to quickly post this picture of Alden. This was the first and only time that he has ever just fallen asleep on the floor. We had just gotten home from our Spring Break trip the day before and then that morning we went to playgroup so he was running and playing with his friends. We can in and I sat down to feed Leigh and then was going to feed him before nap time. Oh well, I thought it was really funny that he would fall asleep. This is the child who goes and goes and goes and never crashes. I have to watch the clock to know if it's time for a nap for bedtime because he will never let on that he's tired.

Easter
This year for Easter Alden, Leigh, and I were at my parents house. We had just gotten back from Alabama the day before and Patrick was flying out of business Sunday afternoon, so we just stayed there to celebrate. Alden and Leigh each got new books and new socks and then new Sunday outfit. It was low-key and nice to focus on the Savior. Alden did also enjoy an Easter egg hunt around the living room.
Here is the classic shot before we headed off to church. I wasn't very successful in getting a good picture of the two of them. Here's the best we got. They look adorable!

Spring Break 2012
The beginning of April was spent down at Gram and Granddaddy's house for Spring Break. My mom had the week off of work so we took Alden and Leigh down to play in the sun. However, the trip didn't go quite as planned as Alden fractured his ankle a few days before we left. Patrick had gone out of town and I was spending a few days at my parents, when Alden claims he was jumping over a ball. I was in the next room and heard the cries of pain and ran out to find him on the floor. He wouldn't put any pressure on his foot and was crying hysterically. After naps and carrying him around that day he was still complaining and wouldn't walked, so I took him to the doctor for some x-rays. They said it is called a toddler fracture because it's the most common injury for a two year old and said it would heal up on it's own in about two weeks. So thank goodness I was with mom for that time, because carrying around both Alden and Leigh by myself got old really quick. Gram and Granddaddy were great and we loved having a relaxing trip full of fun times. We had a great week and are already planning our trip back in June.
Nothing like spending the evening taking a dip in the kiddie pool full of warm water. Granddaddy would fill up buckets of nice warm water and bring it out for Alden and Leigh to play in as the sun was setting. They pretty much just took their bath outside :)
Notice what the humidity does to Alden's hair. I absolutely love it!
Happy baby girl
She's so silly
Going for our evening walk in the woods
Alden loved playing with the bikes even though he still can't figure out how to ride it correctly. His legs are just about long enough.
Leigh fell in love with Bama (the dog). She would flap her arms and start making grunting noises when he would come around. I spent the good part of each day chasing that dog around with her in my arms so she could try and pet him. I had never seen a baby love a dog so quickly without any fear.
Everyday they would want to get in the big pool even though the water was freezing. Alden would say that he wanted to dip his toes in. But somehow by the end of it, all clothes were removed and he was soaking. I don't know how they played in it for so long. I wouldn't even dip my toes in that cold water.
Trying out our new swimsuits for the first time this season. We can't wait for our own pool to open up here, so we can start spending our days out there.
Cute kids!

I have a lot of catching up to do for the past month or so, but for now here are a few pictures of Alden and Leigh from February and March.
