Spring Break 2012

The beginning of April was spent down at Gram and Granddaddy's house for Spring Break.  My mom had the week off of work so we took Alden and Leigh down to play in the sun.  However, the trip didn't go quite as planned as Alden fractured his ankle a few days before we left.  Patrick had gone out of town and I was spending a few days at my parents, when Alden claims he was jumping over a ball.  I was in the next room and heard the cries of pain and ran out to find him on the floor.  He wouldn't put any pressure on his foot and was crying hysterically.  After naps and carrying him around that day he was still complaining and wouldn't walked, so I took him to the doctor for some x-rays.  They said it is called a toddler fracture because it's the most common injury for a two year old and said it would heal up on it's own in about two weeks.  So thank goodness I was with mom for that time, because carrying around both Alden and Leigh by myself got old really quick.  Gram and Granddaddy were great and we loved having a relaxing trip full of fun times.  We had a great week and are already planning our trip back in June.

Nothing like spending the evening taking a dip in the kiddie pool full of warm water.  Granddaddy would fill up buckets of nice warm water and bring it out for Alden and Leigh to play in as the sun was setting.  They pretty much just took their bath outside :)

Notice what the humidity does to Alden's hair.  I absolutely love it!
 Happy baby girl

 She's so silly
Going for our evening walk in the woods
Alden loved playing with the bikes even though he still can't figure out how to ride it correctly.  His legs are just about long enough.

Leigh fell in love with Bama (the dog).  She would flap her arms and start making grunting noises when he would come around.  I spent the good part of each day chasing that dog around with her in my arms so she could try and pet him.  I had never seen a baby love a dog so quickly without any fear.

Everyday they would want to get in the big pool even though the water was freezing.  Alden would say that he wanted to dip his toes in.  But somehow by the end of it, all clothes were removed and he was soaking.  I don't know how they played in it for so long.  I wouldn't even dip my toes in that cold water.
Trying out our new swimsuits for the first time this season.  We can't wait for our own pool to open up here, so we can start spending our days out there.
 Cute kids!
