Easter

This year for Easter Alden, Leigh, and I were at my parents house.  We had just gotten back from Alabama the day before and Patrick was flying out of business Sunday afternoon, so we just stayed there to celebrate.  Alden and Leigh each got new books and new socks and then new Sunday outfit.  It was low-key and nice to focus on the Savior.  Alden did also enjoy an Easter egg hunt around the living room.

Here is the classic shot before we headed off to church.  I wasn't very successful in getting a good picture of the two of them.  Here's the best we got.  They look adorable!

Spring Break 2012

The beginning of April was spent down at Gram and Granddaddy's house for Spring Break.  My mom had the week off of work so we took Alden and Leigh down to play in the sun.  However, the trip didn't go quite as planned as Alden fractured his ankle a few days before we left.  Patrick had gone out of town and I was spending a few days at my parents, when Alden claims he was jumping over a ball.  I was in the next room and heard the cries of pain and ran out to find him on the floor.  He wouldn't put any pressure on his foot and was crying hysterically.  After naps and carrying him around that day he was still complaining and wouldn't walked, so I took him to the doctor for some x-rays.  They said it is called a toddler fracture because it's the most common injury for a two year old and said it would heal up on it's own in about two weeks.  So thank goodness I was with mom for that time, because carrying around both Alden and Leigh by myself got old really quick.  Gram and Granddaddy were great and we loved having a relaxing trip full of fun times.  We had a great week and are already planning our trip back in June.

Nothing like spending the evening taking a dip in the kiddie pool full of warm water.  Granddaddy would fill up buckets of nice warm water and bring it out for Alden and Leigh to play in as the sun was setting.  They pretty much just took their bath outside :)

Notice what the humidity does to Alden's hair.  I absolutely love it!
 Happy baby girl

 She's so silly
Going for our evening walk in the woods
Alden loved playing with the bikes even though he still can't figure out how to ride it correctly.  His legs are just about long enough.

Leigh fell in love with Bama (the dog).  She would flap her arms and start making grunting noises when he would come around.  I spent the good part of each day chasing that dog around with her in my arms so she could try and pet him.  I had never seen a baby love a dog so quickly without any fear.

Everyday they would want to get in the big pool even though the water was freezing.  Alden would say that he wanted to dip his toes in.  But somehow by the end of it, all clothes were removed and he was soaking.  I don't know how they played in it for so long.  I wouldn't even dip my toes in that cold water.
Trying out our new swimsuits for the first time this season.  We can't wait for our own pool to open up here, so we can start spending our days out there.
 Cute kids!

Pictures

So it's been a while since I've posted some pictures.  Here are a few from the last several months.  Please note the date on them and see how much my babies have grown and changed :)  We are finally all getting over the sickness that has been going around, I'm so ready to be done with it all.

Saying Prayers

This week we have been helping Alden learn to say his prayers.  He doesn't quite understand what he's doing yet, but he loves when we tell him it's his turn.  He repeats very clearing back, but I think he thinks it's a little funny sometimes, because you can hear he's holding in a laugh or talking through a huge smile.  He is starting to finish sentences by himself too, which is always fun to hear.  We will say, "Please bless" and wait for him to say it, but he will sometimes fill it in with the word "food" and he can also close his own prayers now.   We say "In the name" and he will say "In the name of Jesus Christ" and then wait for all of us to say "Amen" together.

I am excited for him to learn more about the gospel and love to see his enthusiasm for learning.

Happy Birthday Alden!

Yesterday Alden turned two years old.  I can't believe how fast the past two years have flown by.  He's so much fun and loves playing.  He couldn't wait to eat his cupcakes, which he now just refers to as frosting.  This is because he just eats off the frosting and then wants me to finish his cupcake.  The other day we sat down and he ate his frosting and then I still had my cupcake so he asked to trade me, so he could eat off my frosting as well.  Alden spent the morning at play group and enjoyed spending time with his friends.  We had a smaller group than normal, but we still had fun.  I brought cupcakes to celebrate Alden and Caroline's birthday and then got out balloons for the kids to run around with.  Later we went out to Chick-fil-A for Alden's birthday dinner and then came home and opened a few presents.  He got some GI Joes and a Jeep from Grammie, Poppy, and Sawyer and a bus and little people from Mom, Dad, and Leigh.  He had a great birthday.  It was low-key, but he he had fun.  We love you Alden and are so happy you are part of our family.
